SUMMARY
While contracting at Glassdoor on the Job Site team, I worked to improve job application conversions while also supporting leadership’s goal of driving traffic to a new community feature. I conducted user research to understand behaviors across both areas, collaborated with my PM to define opportunities, and quickly developed wireframes and prototypes to facilitate stakeholder alignment. The final solution balanced both objectives by integrating subtle, context-aware calls-to-action to the community feature without disrupting the job application flow.
FINAL DESIGN SOLUTION
✅ After - Clear job information and smooth interaction pattern
❌ Before - Limited scroll area and heavy information
CHALLENGE
User needs vs. senior leadership strategy
While contracting with Glassdoor on the Job Site team, my focus was to improve the job application conversion rate. At the same time, leadership wanted to increase traffic to a newly launched community feature.
How might we boost job applications without reducing engagement in the community feature? The two goals had competing priorities, and any change to one flow risked negatively impacting the other.
Conflicting objectives between immediate business goals (job applies) and long-term engagement (community growth)
Risk of fragmenting the user experience by adding competing calls-to-action
Need to align cross-functional stakeholders with different success metrics
IMPACT
Business + UX Win
Conversion Rate
Maintained job application conversions while increasing clicks to the community feature
UGC Engagement
Boosted engagement with the community feature without hurting the apply flow
Balance Act
Improved visibility of the community feature while keeping the application process smooth
REFLECTION
Driving cross-functional alignment for user experience
Balancing apply conversions with community engagement required close collaboration, quick prototyping, and ongoing communication with stakeholders. It reinforced my belief that clear, user-centered solutions can bridge conflicting priorities.
